This item was made through the Nafasi Designs program at Lighthouse Charities that provides refugees resettled in Las Vegas a way to become self-reliant. Nafasi means "opportunity/favorable circumstance" in Swahili. Many refugees struggle to find work because of language and cultural barriers. The Nafasi program helps participants to develop new skills and discover their hidden talents, while providing a sense of purpose and contribution. Nafasi Design program participants and volunteers develop wonderful friendships, inspiring one another with creativity and hope.
